7 platinum/tungsten cores, quarz insulated

Thomas RECRODING has developed a 7 core quartz-platinum/tungsten microelectrode (heptode) which is well suited for single unit isolation from a multi-unit-recording made by a multisite electrode (heptode).

A major problem in extracellular microelectrode recording from cell-dense regions of the brain is the separation of spikes originated from different neurons. The stereotrode method, first described by McNaughton and others is most effective for this purpose. The heptode developed by Thomas RECORDING improves this method.
